Pine River and Floyd 4th and 5th grade students, under the direction of Mrs. Cristy Griggs, music teacher, have been rehearsing songs for "Yo! Leonardo", a musical celebration of the visual arts.

Mrs. Bickel, school counselor and Life Skills teacher, has been discussing diversity with the students during the month of January.  Due to the earthquake in Haiti, Pine River Elementary is holding a "Pennies for Haiti" competition between the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade levels.

2010 MIDLAND COUNTY BASEBALL/SOFTBALL CLINICS

The camp is open to anyone in Midland County and will begin Saturday, February 27th. This is a great opportunity for players and parents to be instructed by experienced coaches. The camp will cover basic throwing, fielding, hitting and base running techniques. All sessions will be held in Bullock Creek High School's main gym.

Grassroot Efforts by Citizens Result in Delay of School Funding Cuts

Governor Jennifer Granholm announced on December 10, 2009, that she was delaying and possibly eliminating the $127 per student executive order cut she announced earlier this fall.  This in effect pushes off the decision of whether or not to prorate school funding until after the January 11, 2010, Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference.

Although this news comes as welcome news for Bullock Creek Schools and schools across the state, there is still the possibility a proration for 2009-10 can occur.  If a proration in January is enacted, it is believed that it will be much smaller than the original $127 per pupil. Continued..
