CLASS OF 2028 INCOMING FRESHMEN PARENT MEETING
Parents of present eighth graders are invited to attend an important informational meeting on Thursday, February 1st at 6:00 pm in the High School Auditorium. Information concerning high school policies, procedures, and curriculum will be presented. Counselors and administrators will be on hand to discuss individual department offerings, graduation requirements, and scheduling procedures. High school counselors will be available, by appointment if needed, to meet individually with parents by calling 989-631-2340.
The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is always looking for Teen Advisory Board members. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, enjoy some free snacks, help plan upcoming events, and earn volunteer hours.
The February meeting will take place next Monday, February 5 from 6-7pm at the library. No need to register in advance. Just drop in! This month’s activity is creating your own graphic novel with help from the Midland Center for the Arts.
Are you interested in doing something fun and worthwhile this summer?!?!?!? Volunteering at the Chippewa Nature Center Camps might just be the thing for you. Please see Mrs. Fermoyle if interested.
Each teen volunteer is paired with a staff member to help campers have a fantastic day. This year we are continuing to offer three different teen volunteer positions, our traditional Counselor-In-Training (CITs), Activity Crew Member, and a leadership position for those who want the next level of experience, our Crew Leader. All teen volunteers help their supervising counselor prepare for camp in the morning, engage campers in the activities, assist with crafts, read stories, play games, supervise lunchtime activities, and help clean up in the afternoon. This summer, we ask each Teen Volunteer to spend two weeks with us at camp. In return for their volunteer time, Teen Volunteers received a t-shirt, coaching on leadership and working with kids from their counselor, experience in a work-like (but fun) environment, and over 60 volunteer hours.
