Empathy Lesson at Pine River Elementary
Feeling sorry for someone is sympathy; trying to understand how another person is feeling is empathy. When we show empathy toward one another, we can demonstrate that we care, and that promotes deeper relationships with each other.
Miss Jolene taught the children how to recognize body language clues and how to offer a listening ear to someone in need. After that, the students created signs of encouraging words on a topic of their choosing: empathy, kindness, helpfulness or friendliness. They posted their signs throughout the school. Be sure to look for them the next time that you're in the building.

Miss Barb and Miss Karen from the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library recently paid Pine River fourth graders a visit. They reminded the students of the many free and low-cost resources that the library has to offer. They also generated a lot of excitement about the new additions that are now available such as yard games, binge boxes, craft kits, discovery kits, puzzles, and even an escape room! After that, they taught the children how to search for items on the library's website: https://www.gadml.org/
