The Bullock Creek School District will be closed on Thursday February 17, 2022 due to forecasted flash freeze conditions.
Ms. Allie from CNC led our Young 5’s classes through an activity to explore how bird beaks are adapted for the type of food they eat. They also went on a hike through the woods to hang food for the birds.
Some of our K-2 classes at Floyd enjoyed books by a campfire and s’mores as part of their Valentine’s Day parties. What a great way to celebrate friendships.
Does it get much better than sliding down a hill on your way to a camp fire at school? BCEL students had the chance to do that on Friday. At the campfire, Mrs. Clapp read a book about empathy and kindness and led them in a mindfulness activity. We even had the chance for a few scientific observations about the changes in states of matter they were seeing. It was a great day for our BCEL Lancers.
Mrs. Johnson’s 6th grade Social Studies classes are learning about different systems of government! Friday they worked in groups to build a straw tower, but there was a catch - each group had to follow a type of leadership and rules to represent a form of government. The students learned the pros and cons of each, and why some systems are more successful than others.

Bullock Creek is back in session today (2/3/22). The Road Commission crews are out heavy this morning and most all road will be in great shape. Looking forward to a great day of learning!

Kindergarten, Young 5’s and Transitional Kindergarten students across the district have been enjoying the snow while exploring push and pull forces.

Floyd Elementary’s Ms. Murdock and her 2nd graders took a break from building wolf dens when just the right size log was found for a little fun—and who says bins are just for carrying materials? What a fun way to travel to the den site!
Ms. Pretzer’s class took a hike to look for animal tracks and then enjoyed some free explore time.
Ms. Collison and her class used their creativity last week to make some frozen nature mobiles.
Last week Mrs. Duhoski's class used the cold to turn gas into liquid...turn their"clouds of condensation" (from their water cycle song) into water vapor.
Also, last week, check out these tunneling voles trying to make it to the subnivean layer, and an epic jump with Mr. Schweigert to change a solid with a strong force!
