When the Floyd Elementary boiler room door is open and a student gets a glimpse inside and wants to learn more, we can’t say no. Thank you to Mr. Andrew for answering all the questions…and then a couple more.
Mrs. Bredt may not have been able to start this school year right alongside us, but that hasn’t stopped her from being one of our biggest cheerleaders, strongest supporters, and greatest sources of encouragement.
Mrs. Bredt truly is the heart of BCEL. She loves her students fiercely, supports her staff endlessly, and pours so much of herself into our Little Lancer family. We are incredibly blessed to have a leader who not only leads us, but genuinely loves, believes in, and cares for the people in her building.

Our September Lancers who LEAD recipients have set a phenomenal tone for the rest of the school year. They remind us all that leadership isn't about a title—it's about the daily choices we make to lift up those around us. Congratulations! 6th Grade: Cole Snell, Willow Thomas and Atlas Neumann; 7th Grade: Gavin Lee and Anakin Cohen; 8th Grade: Olive Luedtke, Luke Eastman and Isaac Chomas.
The 6th grade classes wrapped up their last day of printmaking. There was lots of experimentation and learning as they printed positive and negative images of leaves and attempted the challenging process of creating image transfers. This group did a great job of diving in! Some prints worked well and others didn't - that is the way Gelli Plate Printmaking goes, but the student's attitudes and openness to creative risk-taking was fantastic!
Congratulations to the Pine River Lancer Superstars for the month of September. They were a shining example of how to be safe, respectful, and responsible.
Students in Mr. Wauldron’s Media Tech classes were treated to robotics offerings presented by Mr. Mark Lyons from the Saginaw Regional Educational Media Center (REMC 9). The students are looking forward to many more technology offerings presented by Mr. Lyons and REMC 9. Thank You!

From glowing bright on Neon Day to spotting icons on Celebrity Day, and finally, to showing our ultimate school pride in Black and Gold, you all crushed it. For Creek Week at the Chippewa Nature Center, fourth graders at Pine River learned about many survival topics, such as navigating with compasses and maps, building shelters, purifying water, finding food sources, building fires, and administering first aid. They ended the week with a geocaching activity. It was a week full of learning and excitement! Thank you, Chippewa Nature Center, for giving us this wonderful opportunity to learn and be surrounded by nature!

Our Middle School PeerLIFT group attended the county-wide Kickoff today at Meridian High School. This is an annual event where schools from across Mid-Michigan come to plan a mental health awareness and suicide prevention program for their respective schools. Our BCMS students got to collaborate with other schools and worked hard to plan the activities for this school year. We are looking forward to seeing what amazing things this group does this year to help promote our goal.
Floyd first graders are learning about tempo in music class with Mr. Jerashen. They spider tap, march, and listen as they learn "loud is not always fast."

Miss Bakers 6th grade class took a little time to learn about the Constitution of the United States! Students collaborated with their table groups to read and answer questions about each branch of government! They learned about the roles and responsibilities of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. They even took some time discussing checks and balances! Students shared ideas, participated in group discussions, and explored how our government is structured!
The students at Pine River participated in a variety of lessons learning about Constitution Day.

Our cross country Lancer Invitational was Saturday at Stratford Park. It was a beautiful day, and we had great performances from our runners. Good job everyone!
