The 7th and 8th grade bands put on a fantastic Halloween concert filled with music, costumes, and fun! Both student performers and many audience members came dressed in festive attire. The concert featured exciting crowd participation, including on-stage trick-or-treating for costumed guests, audience members joining in as the rhythm section, and even a Happy Birthday sing-along.

Wow! What a night, Floyd! This year's Halloween Walk didn't disappoint! Thank you to everyone who helped and came out to join in on the fun! Our resident DJ kept us dancing and having a good time right to the end. 🎃

🎃👻 Our sweet little ESA preschool trick-or-treaters made our morning extra special today! Mrs. Rey’s adorable goblins came through the school collecting treats and spreading smiles. 🧡

We loved seeing them use their communication devices — or proudly saying “Trick or Treat!” — as they visited classrooms and offices in their cute costumes.

Thank you, Mrs. Rey, for sharing your Halloween fun with us! We just love our ESA preschool friends! 🕸️🧡

The Middle School PeerLIFT group spent last week painting positive messages on pumpkins for the student body. The entrance to the middle school is lined with the pumpkins greeting students everyday with kind words.

The Midland County Educational Careers class, taught at Bullock Creek High School, had a great day with the L.I.F.T. (Leaders Influencing Future Teachers) at SVSU. They attended sessions on teacher certification, scholarship opportunities, project-based learning, ways to make classes more engaging, and other classroom- and teaching-related topics. Students will get the chance to apply what they learned today in this class and in their classroom placements. Students were also able to get a tour of the SVSU campus and see some of the freshman dorms. Some of the students were also excited to eat at the SVSU cafeteria!

Our 6th-grade scientists put Newton’s Laws of Motion to the test by designing and building their own vehicles! Using one of three methods—rubber band, mousetrap, or balloon—students explored how force, mass, and motion work together. From planning and preparation to production and testing, this hands-on project had them thinking, creating, and experimenting like real engineers!

Mrs. Diaz and her 3rd graders at Floyd wrapped up their unit learning about soil with a little soil treat of their own. Who knew soil was so interesting--even without the chocolate?!

A number of our 1st-8th Cross Country Creekers traveled with other friends from Midland and competed in Dexter today. ALL of them qualified for Nationals! K Morgan, I Morgan, M McGuire, J McGuire, A Wiggins and C McGuire (not pictured).

Giant thank you to all the Midland County first responders and volunteers for participating in our staged bus accident practice exercise at Bullock Creek High school. I'm so proud of the collaboration from all emergency departments and Townships.

Congratulations to Mr McClellaland for earning a Lancer Leader Award this month at our October Board of Education meeting. Thank you Mrs Slabaugh for presenting the award!

Ms. Sushynski led some Pine River 4th grade students on an open-ended hike during nature extension. They became interested with building a bridge and a scary house, until their efforts came to an end when they discovered a field mouse.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 4 p.m., a bus will be parked and staged in the gravel parking lot area of the High School for a Midland County First Responder training exercise. The training itself will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. and will focus on emergency response to a bus accident. Please be aware that this is only a training exercise. Depending on weather conditions, a FlightCare helicopter may also land in the area as part of the event. We ask that everyone avoid the area during the setup and training for safety reasons.
