Ms. Pretzer's students were on a mission: scouting for maple trees to get ready for tapping. They are learning to identify trees based on the 3 B's-buds, bark, and branching. Afterwards, they enjoyed the rain and explored in the woods. 🍁

Seeing Mrs. Hedlund smiling through the chaos of Oakisuits and boots in the hall says it all- the fun they had in the rain makes the cleanup all worth it!

This month our Bullock Creek Board of Education honored four wonderful recipients with Lancer Leader Awards. Congratulations to Marie Bradley, Shelly Discher, Kevin Discher and Suzelle Drake! Thank you for nominations from J. Blizzard, Mrs Snell, H. Habitz and Mr Carroll.

Today the Floyd 5th Grade Kindness Club assisted our school counselor intern with presenting a lesson to our kindergartners. The 5th graders read a book and used an egg science experiment to show how kindness lifts others up.

Floyd 5th graders came together to celebrate Lunar New Year in preparation for reading Half and Half by Lensey Namioka. Students learned about Chinese and Asian culture, read books, made crafts, wrote in Chinese, played games, did Chinese math, and even tasted Asian treats.

Mrs. Hupfer's class took advantage of the sun and revisited their learning about shadows.

Shout out to our SRO, Deputy Brandt as we celebrate National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! Deputy Brandt works in all 5 building within the district and is always available to help out in many areas or just give a high five or smile to kids as he checks in on things throughout the buildings. Thank you Deputy Brandt for all you do. We appreciate you!

Floyd Kindergarten and first grade students had a morning of adventures on Feelings Island. Students moved through each classroom as they learned how to care for their emotions and practiced building confidence through positive affirmations. 

Mrs. Korson's students are taking a brain break before tackling more of their day.

What fills my principal heart? Today it was when two 3rd graders entered a 5th grade classroom to record a reading goal, and the 5th graders stopped what they were doing to celebrate them. Unprompted. I'm so proud to spend my days at Floyd. 🖤💛 ~Mrs. Moses

Nothing says Happy Valentine's Day like a middle school dance!

Our Middle School Nature Exploration classes learned about stream sampling and the use of macroinvertebrates to monitor the health of a watershed. Thank you Shelby Gentle, from Little Forks Land Conservancy, for your engaging presentation and activities.

A great day of BCMS cheer took place over at the Cupid Shuffle held at the high school. Both of our Black and Gold teams were high flying and did a wonderful job as they competed against several area schools. A good time was had by all and it was a great way to wrap up wonderful cheer season.

The Varsity Band and Guitar Class took a trip to the Temple Theater to the SBSO concert today! They got to hear the Rachmaninoff piano concerto and 5 students from mid-Michigan were selected to perform solos on the concert, including Aidan Carter!

During this National School Counseling Week, Floyd Elementary is celebrating Mrs. Kristie Clark. Whether we are students or staff, she teaches us how to be our best even during our hardest times. Our school would not be the place it is without her dedication to us all. 🖤💛

Here's to our wonderful counselor at BCMS, Mrs. Jackie Fermoyle! She is a true champion for kids as she helps guide them through middle school life. Her passion to see kids succeed and desire to make sure they have everything they need is unmatched. We are blessed to have her with us at the middle school!
