🌧️ Recess in the Rain! 🌧️
When you're a nature school, rain doesn't stop the fun — it adds to it!
Our BCEL students geared up in their trusty Oaki suits and headed outside to soak in the fresh air and splash in every puddle they could find. Slippery slides, muddy boots, and endless smiles — just another joyful day of learning and playing with nature.
We love our nature school! 💚🍃

The Pine River 5th grade students enjoyed beautiful weather on Monday for their annual egg drop! This exciting science activity is a favorite each year as students put their creativity and engineering skills to the test. Great job, 5th grade!

We are so lucky to have an incredible partnership with the Chippewa Nature Center! 🌿 BCEL is privileged to welcome CNC naturalists into our classrooms to support our nature-based learning with hands-on lessons and amazing resources.
Last week, Mr. Ian brought some fascinating fossil specimens for our 2nd graders to explore—what an awesome way to bring science to life! 🦴🔍
Thank you, CNC, for caring about our kids and helping us nurture their curiosity and love for the natural world. 💚

BCEL and Pine River invite you to join us for our annual Nature Art Walk this Thursday!
The event will begin at 3:45 PM under the pavilion on the BCEL playground.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there for an afternoon of creativity and nature-inspired fun!

K-5 elementary staff collaborating and learning around the Bookworms program!

Thank you to all of the transportation staff for getting the kids to the Loons game last week!

Floyd's 1st grade classes enjoyed a program about plants at Chippewa Nature Center. They also spent some time exploring the outdoor spaces, visited the bird viewing area, and explored the indoor exhibits.

Ms. O'Keefe's BCEL Kindergarten students make the cutest construction workers! They worked with Sugar Construction to plan and build a garden box, make garden decorations and plant some seeds. What a fun and engaging learning experience!

As a reward for positive behavior, students had the chance to switch places with Mrs. Gettel, at Pine River, for "Dress Like a Teacher" Day! The class had a blast dressing up in various teaching roles—complete with books, glasses, and lanyards—while Mrs. Gettel joined the fun by dressing like a student. It was a fun way to celebrate positive behavior choices!

Yeehaw! Our middle school semi-formal was a boot-stompin' success! From cowboy hats to line dancing, our students brought the energy and had an amazing time. Huge thanks to our AMAZING student council for helping plan and prepare the event. A special thanks to Stacy and Ivy for bringing Bullet and Misty for adorable pony photo ops.
And of course, a big shoutout to our staff volunteers and DJ for making the event unforgettable. We hope you all had a GREAT time!

Congratulations to the BCHS Band who earned straight Division I ratings at the MSBOA State Festival this week! Division I is the highest rating and is considered "superior". The band also played music above their classification and still earned the highest possible marks, way to represent the Creek!

Beautiful night for some Creek soccer!

Today our BCMS 7th Grade Band performed the National Anthem at the Loons Game! Not only were they the featured group to play the anthem, they also performed it by MEMORY!

It was a perfect day for our 7th graders to attend a Great Lakes Loons' baseball game. The cherry on the top was that our 7th grade band performed the Star-Spangled Banner before the first pitch. Needless to say, we all had a great time!

🌞 What an amazing start to our Friday!
At our school, mornings look a little different in every classroom — and that's what makes it so special. Some students kick off their day with breakfast and playtime to ease into the morning, while others dive into small group interventions or work 1:1 with staff on individual skills. Some enjoy a quiet moment with a good book, and others multitask with breakfast and work time together.
No matter how the day begins, one thing is always true: it's a great day to be here, learning and growing together! 💛📚✨

It’s not often we come across a book versus an electronic device. Well done!

Mrs. Holzhauer’s class at Pine River is taking on a fun STEM challenge — working in teams to design a bridge using just two pieces of paper, as they study forces. Their goal is to build the strongest bridge possible — one that can hold the most beans!

🌧️🌿 Field trip day fun! Our 1st graders had an unforgettable adventure at the Chippewa Nature Center today—even the rain couldn’t dampen their excitement! From splashing in puddles to exploring with naturalists, our students learned through play and curiosity in the great outdoors.
We’re so grateful for our amazing partnership with the Chippewa Nature Center. Days like today are what learning is all about! 🌱🐾

Mrs. Gettel's class had fun in music with Mr. Jerashen and wanted to share their learning with the office! They learned a fun piece called "Swedish March" and used it to explore some exciting music skills — moving to the beat, singing do-mi-so-do’ melodies, and even trying out a round!
